Carnival is the most significant event on Trinidad & Tobago’s

cultural and tourism calendar “Carnival” begins long before

the actual event itself, with numerous cultural events running

in the lead up to the actual street parades on Carnival Monday

and Tuesday.

Even if you’re not participating in it you’re surrounded by it.

The heart of the musical celebration has been calypso, and

more recently soca has replaced calypso as the most celebrated

type of music. The costumes seen in carnival include a mix of

the “traditional mas” and the “new mas”, Rio Style.
